More than 150 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and volunteer leaders from across the Leatherhead Division gathered at Manor House School in Bookham to mark the 100th anniversary of Thinking Day.
On 22nd February every year, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world celebrate being part of one big global group, with a variety of activities. The day is also the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell and Olave Baden-Powell, who helped start the Scouting and Guiding movement.
At Manor House School, girls and leaders from units in Ashtead, Leatherhead, Fetcham, Bookham and Effingham spent a fun-filled few hours enjoying mass singing and dancing sessions.

They learned to sing Katy Perry’s hit song “Roar” – guided by Dave from Rock Choir. The dancing activity was led by Susy Puckett, the theatre school manager at Leatherhead Theatre. Susy guided Rainbows, Brownies and Guides through a lively routine to the song “We’re all in this together” from High School Musical.

Leatherhead Division was also delighted to welcome along the CEO of Girlguiding Felicity Oswald to join in the fun, along with Beverly Heywood-Jones, the Surrey East county commissioner. There were cupcakes for everyone attending, decorated with the Girlguiding Trefoil and very kindly provided by Lola’s Cupcakes.

Two Girlguiding volunteers were presented with long service awards as part of the Thinking Day celebrations, with Beth Fowler receiving her 5 year award and Jen Broh being given her 10 year award.
